Pictures from the Hospital... March 25, 2009

March 25, 2009

After 4 kidney stones the last two weeks. The doctor finally decided it was time to induce me!!! I was so ready to be done... So I was fine with that! After 20 hours of labor - being miserable... only getting dialated to a 3... Isaac's heart rate dropping every time I had the pitocin... it was time for a C-section... HE ARRIVED SAFE AND SOUND!!!

7 lbs 20"

Some of the pictures are a little graphic... BEWARE! :)

Had to stay on oxygen for all of my labor. My heart rate was really high while Isaac's was really low. :( Don't I look like I'm having some serious fun???

Sweet Brian trying to keep my blood pressure down. Trying to help me relax and know that all will be well. We were done with this pregnancy... WE WANTED ISAAC HERE ALREADY!!!

I got to have a Popsicle every two hours... and I made sure I got it. Man was I thirsty those 20 some odd hours!

Time for the c-section... not real excited about it... BUT I did just want to be done. Glad Brian was sitting right next to me and my Mom was able to be in the room too... since she is a nurse and knows my Doctor.

GRAPHIC...

Pulling Isaac out of my tummy... you can see the umbilical cord. It was wrapped around his head TWICE... that is why his heart rate dropped with my contractions and he never dropped into the birth canal. So grateful for technology these days! Saved my sweet boys life!!!

He's out safe and sound... with a good pair of lungs... my oh my! He wanted to stay in... it was WARM in there!

He may be slimy... but I still think he's cute! BRAND SPANKING NEW!!!

Doing the new baby tests!!

First time with MOMMY!!!! FINALLY!!!! Amazing how you instantly love them so unconditionally! I do look like I was hit by a train... then again I kind of was! Some women make it look so easy... NOT ME! I had to stay on oxygen for another 24 hours. I'm in no hurry to do that again! I am just going to enjoy my sweet angel!

SO PRECIOUS!!! Haven't even had my bath yet... and I'm still so cute!
Nice thing about a C-section... no cone head! He just looks perfect!!

Enjoying my sweet Angel!! Can't believe he's finally here!

So tiny... love his little hands... with the long fingers!

My sweet nurse who helped me out so much! I loved her!

Proud new Daddy!!!

He was so relieved to finally have him here safe and sound! What a precious gift from our Heavenly Father!
First bath... with the Nurse and Daddy's help!

Think he's proud??? :)

Very first family photo! Too bad I look so great...
Alrighty Dad... I'm ready to go skiing!!!

I had so many wonderful visitors!!! It meant the world to me!

Love Britt... such a great nurse... even if she wasn't ever MY nurse! :) She still took care of me!

Isaac LOVED to be held like this... and Brian felt more comfortable holding him like this! :)

BEST DOCTOR EVER!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Dr. Smith for taking such great care of Isaac and I!!!!

My two boys bonding!!!

Loved taking Naps together already!!

Kidney stones - 8 months pregnant

Oh the misery!
So I was 8 months along and working at the Inn at Solitude Mtn Resort...
I all of a sudden got a really sharp pain thru my left side
and it didn't go away.
So I was pretty sure it wasn't labor - but I didn't know what was going on.
[I'll be honest... I was wondering if I was just having a sudden attack. NOPE!]
I didn't know what to do... I was working by myself.
I let my manager go for a ski break.
It was slow and really boring anyways.
Thank goodness Brian was working that day.
I called him in a panic and told him he needed to come down and get me.
He was there pretty quickly.
He strapped me to a back board [semi-embarrassing] and took me over to the clinic.
They asked me a lot of questions - while I was throwing up in their waste basket.
They ruled out labor and decided it may be kidney stones,
but that I should probably go to the hospital.
Brian asked me if I wanted a ambulance... I told him
NO, JUST GET ME THERE!
It was the worst car ride ever... I was in so much pain.
I just whimpered, cried, and screamed the whole way down the canyon.
[Driving Brian crazy!]
Got to the emergency room and they sent me straight to the Womens Center.
They gave me shots of morphine in my butt [OUCH] and started doing tests.
They decided they were pretty sure it was kidney stones.
They took me over for x-rays on my kidney. [My left side]
They couldn't see my kidney - my colon was pretty dang full.
YUCK!
I stayed for 24 hours - on wonderful morphine!
Then stayed on Loratab at home!
Needless to say I didn't go back to work after that.
Instead I curled up on the couch and didn't go far from there!
I went back to the hospital about a week later for another stone.
Was there for 12 hours.
Then I passed another one at home...
decided it was time to do something about my colon.
Tried different things... don't need to list them! :)
Ended up taking a colonoscopy prep to help it along.
NASTY STUFF!!!!
It was midnight when I started.
My sweet husband and parents stayed up with me.
They watched a movie while I was in the corner in agony.
Of course it was a comedy so they kept laughing and enjoying themselves...
while I am just writhing in pain!
Felt some what better after that night.
By this point I was finally dilated to a one...
my doctor told me if I got ONE more kidney stone...
he would start me now that I was at a one.
He didn't want to just keep waiting.
It was probably stressing the baby out AND I was sick of the pain!
Plus he wanted to figure out what the deal was with my kidneys.
Well... I got ANOTHER ONE.
So Tuesday morning, March 24, I had finally had enough.
I called the hospital and they said they would call me back when
they had a room available for me to come in and use.
It wasn't an hour later that they called.
SO IT WAS TIME!!!

Here I am in all my misery!
I have my phone just in case I would need it...
and a heating pad to help with the pain.
It hurt to lay all the way down,
So I had to prop myself up a little.
Tell you what... I didn't sleep great!
The Loratab knocks me out!
As you can see...
sweet Mom getting me in my prime!

Family Shower ~ 3/19/09

Love the great Peterson family!
We debated whether or not we were going to be able to do this shower.
By this time I believe I had had 2 or 3 kidney stones.
Talk about miserable!!!
I would much rather be in the most miserable part
of pregnancy before having kidney stones.
This day I was feeling pretty good. Still didn't really get ready.
This alone drained ALL of my energy.
I didn't get off this couch.
Literally!!!
People brought me food,
handed me the presents,
THEY WERE MY SLAVES!
Ok, not really... just wonderful to help me out in my time of need!

Opening my awesome presents!
I love that no one around me is smiling...
they all look really bored!
HAHA!

The awesome crew! Love my sisters & cousins!!
Thanks Sisters for putting it together!

My sweet Mom & Aunts!
Ginni & Kay!
Me, Mom & Tammy!
[In case you didn't notice... look above my aunts...
Yes that is Kim laughing and Christy pointing to her butt!
LOVE THEM! I laugh every time I see this picture!]
Brian wasn't so sure about getting to open a "BABY" present.
That's my department!
But I knew what it was already... and figured he would be the one using it!

SWEET!!!
Thanks Grandpa & Grandma Peterson!
It was their tradition to give each grandchild a hiking pack
for each first great-grandchild born in that particular family.
The aunts have done a GREAT job keeping it up!
Thank you!!!
It has been used A TON!!!
